~Warcraft (Orcs & Humans)

By Blizzard Entertainment.

A collection of tips contributed by John Johnson-Appoo.

An interesting game and very cleverly done. I'm including a editing
cheat for this game or you may take forever to finish it. With
unlimited Lumber, Gold and magical ability for your people, you
should find this a piece of cake. Always remember to defend your
villages/towns before taking on the enemy. When you have limited
troops, keep them in a group for best results. Daemons and warlocks
should be killed as quick as possible to avoid damage to your
villages. Build walls around your villages if you think that you
need them.

Your land is overrun with orcs and other baddies and you are
commanded to dispose of them. You start with lowly status and gets
promoted on successful missions. I played the game as human (I'm
prejudiced, I prefer being human). The idea is to build up your
village, train lots of soldiers and magic makers to take on the
enemy. However, with set numbers of troops, you must be cagey and
draw the enemy onto you to utilise your full firepower.

Always remember the rule of warcraft, have superior numbers or the
battle will always be in doubt.

~Campaign 1 (Private)
~----------

You are required in your first campaign to do the following:

1. Build six farms
2. Build a Barrack

There are only eight enemy units scattered around the landscape and
you don't have to fight them unless they enter your village. Build
your farms and barrack and you automatically win this round. With
the editing cheat supplied you should do this in no time.

~Campaign 2 (Corporal)
~----------

Your task in this campaign is to defend the village of Grand Hamlet
against the enemy and prosper. There are around sixteen enemy unit
to destroy, then you win this round automatically.

~Campaign 3 (Sergeant)
~----------

You must now secure the area around the Grand Hamlet and destroy the
outpost of the Orcs called Kryross across the swamp. The outpost
lies in the north-western region. Use the editing cheat to give your
healers the ability to use farsight and identify the camp on the
map. Then train large numbers of sold-iers and send them in squads
of four against the enemy. Shouldn't take you long to do this.

~Campaign 4 (Lieutenant)
~----------

King Llane orders you to rescue Sir Lothar from the Dead mines and
any other survivors found with him. This is a little tougher as you
can't generate more soldiers but you can edit to give your priests
more ability.

The trick here is to keep your troops together i.e. Footmens in
front, Archers directly behind and Clerics in support. Cast
invisibility on one of your footmen and send him on a scouting
mission, always drawing back to the fold when spotted by the enemy
ogres. This way you can pick off the ogres one by one. Head towards
the south-west and then northwards to Lothar.

There are some ogres in the south-east, clear them first before
heading south-west. When you get to Lothar, heal him and everyone
goes back to the starting point indicated by Flashing Arrows.

~Campaign 5 (Captain)
~----------

You are now told (this is the army, there are no requests here) to
take over the village in the Forest of Elwynn and secure the
Borderlands. You will also have knights to help you here. So train
lots of soldiers as possible. When you think that you have enough,
send them in squads of four to the north-west region to knock out
the Orc outpost. You will face Raiders and enemy magic makers.

Use farsight to locate the enemy camps, which means that you have to
build some church to train the clerics. Also build mills,
Blacksmiths and stables to train horses. Upgrade your equipments and
horses for better results. After destroying the camp, you go onto
the next level.

~Campaign 6 (Knight)
~----------

Some traitors are attacking the Abbey of NorthShire, help the monks
quickly and kill the traitors. Secure the Abbey and seek out and
destroy the source of the enemy.

Sends squads of fours into the Abbey to attack the traitors. Rebuild
the village and train your army. The enemy lies in the north-east
region of your map. When you have enough soldiers, send them against
the enemy and destroy the outpost. Destroy any enemy warlocks, you
come across as they have the fearful fire magic. I sent in around
forty units to destroy the village, and it worked. You may not need
to be as heavy-handed as me.

~Campaign 7 (General)
~----------

The village of Sunnyglade has been attacked and the villagers taken
as slaves Your task is to rescue the peasants, destroy the enemy and
rebuild the village.

Build up your village, and you should have conjurors as well as
clerics. Train knights, cannon crews as well as archers and footmen.
Casts water elementals and send them into the south-east to attack
the enemy village. Beware of daemons, kill them and the enemy
warlocks as quick as possible. When you think that you have enough
troops, send them towards to enemy village to kill and destroy. The
slave peasants are in the east to be rescued. This is fairly
straight forward and should not cause you undue problems.

~Campaign 8 (Marshall)
~----------

You are set in a dungeon to destroy the evil warlock Medivh. Your
task is to destroy him and his daemons. You only have a set amount
of troops, so conserve them in the fight. Keep everyone together and
fight as a group to win this round i.e. Knights and footmen in
front, Archers and clerics directly behind.

Destroy the fire elemental directly south of you before going to the
south-west. Far south is more skeletons and a fire elemental. You
will find Slime thingies to the south-east. Then head north, you get
some spiders here, these are easy to kill. Head north-west and you
will find some skeletons with a fire elemental. Now for the big one.
Group everyone as suggested and send one horseman to draw Medivh and
his daemons out. Keep trying until some of your troops survive to
win this round.

~Campaign 9 (Duke)
~----------

You are now commanded to go east of the borderlands and destroy the
enemy across the Black Morass. As usual, build up your army, and
send squads of fours to the south-west to take care of the problem
there. When you have finished with that, send the remaining force
with fresh troops to the north-west.

Use a good combination of archers, footmen, cannon crews and knights
to resolve the orc problem. Should be a walk in the park.

~Campaign 10 (War Leader)
~-----------

The King Llane is dead, killed by the evil Garona. You are now the
war leader and it is up to you to destroy Stormwind Keep and the
Temple of the Damned. This round is probably the toughest, you only
get a set amount of troops and no fresh supply.

You have conjurers at hand so use them. The best way to do this is
to place all your people by the first bridge with horsemen & footmen
first, backed by archers and your magic makers. Place your cannons
by the sides so that they do not damage your own troops.

Now send the water elementals into Stormwind Keep to do as much
damage as possible( have you edited for this ability yet?). You need
to leave a little path for the elementals to bypass your troops.
Your main body will have to deal with the daemons coming your way.

When you see that there aren't many enemy troops attacking your
elementals at the keep, then send in all your troops to destroy the
keep.

~Campaign 11 (War Leader)
~-----------

Your next task is to destroy Black Rock Spire's supply towns,
called Rockard and Stocard. They are in the north-east and
north-west respectively. As usual quickly build your town and train
conjurers. Send lots of elementals to attack the town, then send in
your troops to clean up.

You have to defend your town in the beginning just in case daemons
are sent in against you.

~Campaign 12 (Demigod)
~-----------

This is the final battle. You have to destroy Black Rock Spire and
the castle of Blackhand thereby freeing Azeroth. There are three
towns to take out, one in the north-east, one in the south-west and
Black Rock Spire in the north-west.

You should know the drill by know, that's right, send in the
elementals to do the dirty work and then mop up after them with your
troops. Then sit back to watch the finale when you become GOD?

This game can be very interesting and has lots of variations, if you are
interested. Me! I'm pooped and couldn't be bothered.
