X-Finder Server (for IBM PC) R.6

[1] Introduction

X-Finder Server (for IBM PC) is a software to establish a
remote link between the X-Finder and an IBM compatible PC. An
HP-LX and an IBM PC is connected with a RS-232C serial cable.
The IBM PC works as remote drives and a remote acceralator for
the HP-LX.

X-Finder R.4 or later should be used as a client software on
the HP-LX.

[2] Features

Advantages:
o Runs within a DOS window supplied by Windows95 (runs also
  within a minimized DOS window).
o Reads and writes FAT32, if you run on Windows95 OSR2 or
  later.
o Works as a remote accelarator.
o Runs also on XT, AX (Japanese old standard) and Toshiba's
  Dynabook series.

Limitations:
o Does not support the long file name of VFAT.
o Is not compatible with the remote link function of the
  built-in Filer application.
o Does not support IR nor modem communication.

[3] Configurations

 XFS [switches]

	H 115200bps
	L 38400bps
	1 COM1
	2 COM2
	T Turbo
	N Normal
	X X1
	D Display

@Default is COM1 with 115200bps.

o After the program is started, the settings can be changed
    by pressing {ESC}.
o {Esc}{Q} will quit from the program.

[4] Setup procedures

Basic procedure is as follows.

1. Connect the HP-LX and the IBM PC with a RS-232C serial cable.

2. Run XFS on the PC (it works as the Server).

3. Run X-Finder on the HP-LX and select a remote drive to make
   a remote link.

Making a remote link on the X-Finder will establish a
connection with the Server, which already runs the X-Finder
Server program.

If you cannot establish the link, abort the connection by
pressing {Alt} on the HP-LX and initialize the server by
pressing {Esc}{Enter} on it.

If the IBM comatible PC has a DB25 connector, then you need to
use the adapter with a printer mark, if you use the cable
supplied by HP.

it to '101' for 38400bps Normal mode.

  - Setting X-Finder Server to Normal mode
    Run xfs with 'n' option:
      xfs n
