I recently received the following message from a user of my Backgammon
game, suggesting that I submit it to you for downloading. Thus, I am
attaching a ZIPped up version to this letter. Two versions of the
program and all the instructions are included.

Cordially,
Willy Chaplin

=========================================

Hi Willy, my name is David Wright. I'm an Hewlett Packard 200LX Palmtop
user and an avid Backgammon player. If you're unfamiliar with the
HP-200LX, it's a very tiny (6"x3"x1") DOS based PC-XT that runs most CGA
compatible programs.

There's still quite a sizable sub-culture of us 200LX-Geeks out there.
One of the most popular sites where 200LX users download programs is
"The Palmtop Network" at (http://www.palmtop.net/), and, one of the most
popular Backgammon programs used by 200LX users is "Backgammon Royale"
by Oxford Softworks. Since Backgammon Royale was not specifically
written for the 200lx, and was really intended for use with a mouse,
it's rather difficult to use and to move pieces about. But, the main
problem with it is that it's an extremely poor player. I'm able to beat
it the majority of the time with at least a Gammon, and although I love
to win, winning all the time gets rather boring.

So, I'm always searching for a better Backgammon game. After I stumbled
across your Backgammon 5.1 and tried it on my Palmtop. It worked great!
It's the best I've seen, and it's managed to kick my ass almost every
time. The only thing I've not been able to figure out is how to exit the
program, other than using (Ctrl+Alt+Del). Quit/Yes will end the current
game and prompt you to Reset, but ending the program itself as alluded
me.  Can you assist?

===========================================
Note from Willy: The exit instructions are in the text document named
BACKGAMM.TXT which is included in the ZIPped package. They may not work
with the 200lx, however.
===========================================

Willy, I believe Backgammon 5.1 would be immensely popular with 200LX
users, if the knew of it's existence. You might consider submitting it
to (super@palmtop.net).
